shall be good and sufficient evidence in any court of this State
to prove such incorporation.

CHAPTER 479.
AN ACT to amend the charter and to extend the powers of
the Hagerstown Railway Company of Washington County,
Maryland, so as to confer upon said company, in addition to
the powers heretofore granted, the right to construct, own
and operate an electric light, heat and power plant, and to
furnisli electricity in Washington County, Maryland ; and to
amend and re-enact Section 4 of Chapter 419 of the Acts of
1896, relating to said railway company ; and to sanction and
confirm the execution of the mortgage, and the issuance of
the bonds thereunder by the said railway company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted By the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the charter of the Hagerstown Railway Company of
Washington county, Maryland, a corporation duly incorporated
under the laws of Maryland, be and the same is hereby amended
as follows ; and that section 4 of chapter 419 of the Acts of
1896, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to
read as follows :

Repeal.

4. And be it enacted, That the said company shall have the
right to carry over its railway or any of its connections, for
hire, express matter and merchandise, and shall also have
power to manufacture, furnish and sell to persons or corpora-
tions electric light, electric heat and electric power, and to con-
tract for, and to furnish electric light for lighting streets,
roads, private or public buildings in said county, and to
furnish electricty for motive power and other purposes, to any
and all persons and corporations ; and the said railway com-
pany is hereby authorized and empowered by and with the
consent of the County Commissioners of Washington county,
or any person or persons, or corporations, owning or operating
any of said roads or turnpikes, to lay, purchase, construct or
build lines, conductors and conduits under, along, upon or over
any or all road- ways or turnpikes in said county, and by and
with the consent of the muncipal authorities or town officers,
in any city or town in said county, to lay, purchase, construct
or build lines, conductors and conduits under, along, upon or
over the streets or alleys in any town . in said county, and
under, over and along any private property in said county, the
