work and labor of carpenters, bricklayers and similar mechani-
cal work and labor.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take• effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 475.
AN ACT to incorporate the Denton and Federalsburg Kail-
road Company, and to authorize the County Commissioners
of Caroline County to subscribe to the capital stock of said
corporation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Emory S. Turpin, Thomas W. Jones, Henry R.

Lewis, John H. Vangesel, M. Bates Stephens, Charles W.
Hobbs, Henry T. Nuttle, William B. Nuttle, B. Gootee
Stevens, Edward W. Liden, Henry B. Messenger and James
B. Wright, and their successors in office, are hereby created a
body corporate under the name of the Denton and Federals-
burg Railroad Company, with power at any time after the
passage of this Act to organize by calling a meeting of the
subscribers to the capital stock of said company, as soon as
capital stock to the par value of ten thousand dollars or more
shall be subscribed, which meeting shall elect a board of direc-
tors of said company, nine in number, to manage the affairs of
said company for the ensuing year, or until their successors
shall be appointed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the total capital stock of

said company authorized to be issued, shall be two hundred
thousand dollars, divided into shares of the par value of
twenty-five dollars each, which capital stock may be pay-
able in land, material for the construction and use of said rail-
way, and services or labor necessary or suitable for the use of
said company, according to the terms of the contract between
each subscriber and said company, and shall be payable in such
instalments as may be subscribed or contracted for ; and as
aforesaid, when the sum of ten thousand dollars at the par value
thereof of the capital stock of said company shall be sub-
scribed for, it shall be lawful to organize the same, and to have
and enjoy all the rights, franchises, privileges and immunities
