LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 473.
AN ACT to refund a sum of money to Jonathan Reynolds,
Treasurer of the Rising Sun Normal School Association, of
Cecil County, erroneously paid by him into the State
Treasury.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Jonathan Reynolds, Treasurer of the Rising Sun
Normal School Association, of Cecil county, paid as State tax,
during the years 1883 to 1895, inclusive, the sum of twenty-
three dollars on the buildings and grounds of the said Normal
School Association ; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of, Cecil county have
agreed to refund the county tax paid for the same years on the
aforesaid property of the said association ; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The aforesaid property is according to law
exempt from taxation.

Appropria-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is
hereby authorized to draw his warrant on the State Treasurer
for the sum of twenty-three dollars in favor of said Jonathan
Reynolds, treasurer of said association.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 9, 1898.

CHAPTER 474.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 4 of the
Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title
"Police," and to be known as Section 759 B.

New section
added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section, to be known as 759B, be
added to Article 4 of the Public Local Laws, title "City of
Baltimore," sub-title "Police," to read as follows :

Police duties
regulated.

759B. That no member of the police force provided for by
this Article and sub-title shall be by the said Board of Police
Commissioners employed or be permitted to be employed, to
do or perform for the said board, or the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, any mechanical work or labor other than
the work or labor required of the members of said police
force by the provisions of this article and sub-title relating to
police duties. The purpose and object of this section is to
prevent patrolmen and other members of said police force
