the said Article known also as the Article providing for the
formation, powers and regulations of corporations, so far as the
same may not be inconsistent or in conflict with the special or
general regulation or provisions, powers, rights and advantages
conferred or intended to be conferred by this Act.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the company hereby incor-
porated shall have the power to make, construct and maintain

a railroad with double or single tracks and sidings, as they may
deem expedient for the transportation of passengers, freight,
merchandise and produce in cars propelled by electricity in any
form or other improved motive power other than steam, with
the right to erect and maintain such poles and wires and appur-
tenances as may be necessary, and to build the necessary
switches to its car barns and power houses, and also to build
the necessary turn outs and connections in Baltimore city, Bal-
timore county, Harford county, and other counties in the State
of Maryland, as hereinafter provided : Beginning for the
same at the intersection of Loney's lane and the Philadelphia
road, and continuing thence in, over and upon such streets and
highways in Baltimore city, upon which the right to construct
and operate said railway as aforesaid may be granted by the
Mayor and City Council of said Baltimore city, and also from
said intersection of Loney's lane and the Philadelphia road
aforesaid, over and upon and along the said Philadelphia road
to its intersection with the Joppa road, to, into and through
the town of Belair, in Harford county, with the power of con-
structing said railway as aforesaid in, through and upon the
main streets of said town of Belair ; provided, however, that
said company shall obtain the consent to erect so much of its
railway as is located upon the said streets of Belair, from the
Town Council or Commissioners of said Belair ; and provided
further, it shall obtain the consent to erect so much of its rail-
way as may be located upon any of the public highways of
Baltimore county or Harford county, in the State of Maryland,
from the County Commissioners of Baltimore county or Har-
ford county respectively, as the case may be ; and should the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore city, or the Town
Council or Commissioners of Belair, or the County Commis-
sioners of Baltimore county, or of Harford county of Mary-
land, respectively, as the case may be, designate streets or
public highways between the place of beginning and the
terminus of said railway, the said corporation is hereby further
empowered to construct, maintain and operate its railway in
the aforementioned manner upon such other streets or public
