Chapter 76.
AN ACT to provide for a general index of de-
ceased persons and wards in the office of the
register of wills for Cecil county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-

sembly of Maryland, That the register of wills
for Cecil county be and he is hereby authorized
and required to transcribe the index of deceased
persons in his office into a new book or books,
well bound, for that purpose ; and also to make
in a book or books suitable for that purpose a
general index of wards in his said office.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the costs of
said books shall be paid by the county commis-

sioners for said county, and that said register of
wills shall be paid for transcribing and making
such index or indexes, and continuing the same,
out of the surplus proceeds of his office, and if
there be no such surplus, then the said county
commissioners shall allow and pay to the said
register of wills for said work such fees and
compensation as is now allowed by said county
commissioners to the clerk of the circuit court
for said county for work of a similar character.
