Chapter 349.

AN ACT to provide for the indexing the records
in the office of the county commissioners of
Allegany county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

General index.

bly of Maryland, That the county commissioners
of Allegany county be and they are hereby
authorized, if in their judgment deemed advis-
able so to do, to procure suitable books for a
general index of the records of the proceedings
of said office, and have the clerk to said commis-
sioners, as soon as practicable thereafter, com-
plete said general index.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That upon
completion of said indexing to the satisfaction of

the commissioners of said county they shall levy
to said clerk, as other county charges are levied,
such sum of money as the indexing of the records
prior to the passage of this act shall amount to,
at the rate of ten cents a name or item so
indexed, provided that the aggregate amount
shall not exceed the sum of six hundred dollars.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 350.

AN ACT to authorize the county commissioners
of Charles county to levy a sum of money suf-
ficient for the erection of a new public school-
house near Rock Point, in said county.

Levy tax.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the county commission-
ers of Charles county be and they are hereby
authorized, in their discretion, to levy upon the
taxable basis of said county at the next annual
levy, a sum of money sufficient to erect a new
public school-house near Rock Point, in said
county; the said sum of money to be levied for
