Chapter 256.

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to the
Female House of Refuge for the purpose of
erecting an additional building, and to furnish
the same for the use of said institution.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the sum of eight thous-

and dollars be and the same is hereby appro-
priated to the Female House of Refuge, to be
used and applied exclusively for the purpose of
erecting and furnishing an additional building
for the accommodation and use of the said
Female House of Refuge ; and the comptroller
of the treasury is hereby authorized and directed
to draw his warrant upon the treasurer of this
state for the said sum of money.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 257.

AN ACT to relieve the commissioners of Har-
ford county from the care of the roads, streets
and alleys within the corporate limits of the
city of Havre de Grace, and to transfer the
care of the same to the mayor and city council
of Havre de Grace, and to provide in consid-
eration thereof for an adjustment of the tax
rate, to be levied by said commissioners in
said city.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the commissioners of

Harford county shall be relieved from the care
of the roads, streets and alleys within the cor-
porate limits of the city of Havre de Grace, and
that the care of the same shall be transferred to
the mayor and city council of Havre de Grace ;
and that in consideration of said transfer all the
