Chapter 319.
AN ACT to repeal section one of article fifty-six
of the Code of Public General Laws, relating
to the issuing of licenses, as amended by chap-
ter five hundred and seven of the acts of as-
sembly of eighteen hundred and eighty-six,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That section one of article fifty-
six of the Code of Public General Laws, as
amended by chapter five hundred and seven of
the acts of assembly of eighteen hundred and
eighty-six, be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read
as follows :
SEC. 1. All licenses for selling goods and chat-

tels shall be granted by the clerks of the circuit
courts of the counties, and the clerk of the court
of common pleas, in the city of Baltimore, and
clerks of the circuit courts of the counties, ex-
cept where a different mode is specially provided ;
all licenses granted or issued by the clerk of the
court of common pleas, in the city of Baltimore,
and clerks of the circuit courts of the counties,
shall expire the first day of May next thereafter,
except licenses for fisheries and horse-racing ;
and, if granted for part of a year, a ratable sum
shall be charged therefor.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
