Chapter 208.
AN ACT to amend and enlarge the powers of
"The Associated Professors of Loyola College,
in the City of Baltimore," a corporation duly
incorporated by the General Assembly of
Maryland, acts of eighteen hundred and fifty-
three, chapter one hundred and forty-one, and
acts of eighteen hundred and eighty, chapter
two hundred and ninety-eight, and to sanction
the holding by said corporation of certain
property hereinafter set forth.
WHEREAS, On the seventh day of June, A. D.
eighteen hundred and fifty-three, "The Asso-

ciated Professors of Loyola College, in the City
of Baltimore," acquired by lease, duly recorded
among the land records of Baltimore city, in
liber E. D. number thirty-eight, folio fifty, &c.,
a lot of ground on the west side of Calvert
street, in said city, and erected on part of said
lot an educational institution known as Loyola
College, for the education of boys and young
men, in accordance with its said charter, and
erected on the other part of said lot a church
edifice, or house of worship, of the Roman
Catholic Church, . known as "Saint Ignatius
Church," and subsequently, on the twenty-
second day of August, A. D. eighteen hundred
and eighty-five, by deed of that date, duly
recorded among said land records in liber J. B.,
number ten hundred and sixty-one, folio four
hundred and eighty-five, &c., the reversion and
free interest in said whole lot was conveyed to
the said body corporate.
AND WHEREAS, It is doubtful whether the said
body corporate, under its said charter, and sup-
plement thereto, has the right to hold, use,

occupy, conduct and manage the portion of said
property improved by the said church edifice, or
the said church edifice itself, because of its
being incorporated f or the purposes of an educa-
tional institution, now the design of this act is
to confer upon the said body corporate the right
to hold, use. occupy, enjoy, manage, and conduct
