and there present, whereupon the subscribers,
or a majority of them, shall elect seven directors
by ballot to manage the affairs of said company,
which directors, or a majority of them, shall have
power to elect a president, either from among
the directors or others, and shall allow him such
compensation for his services as they shall deem
proper, and all elections by the stockholders of
said company shall be by ballot, and each stock-
holder shall be entitled to as many votes as he
owns shares of stock in said corporation, and
may vote either in person or by proxy ; and all
said elections shall be conducted in accordance
with the provisions of the general laws of this
state in reference to the elections of corpora-
tions organized under such general laws.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

of Maryland, passed at the session held in the

and forty-five of the acts of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, passed at the session held in
the year eighteen hundred and eighty-six, being
"An act to make all plaintiffs in civil suits in Car-
oline county, where suits are brought before a
justice of the peace, bring said suits in the elec-
tion district where the defendant resides," be
and the same is hereby repealed.
