Chapter 181.

AN ACT to protect primary elections and con-
ventions of political parties in Allegany county,
and to punish offences committed thereat.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-

conducted.

sembly of Maryland, That every political pri-
mary election held by any political party, organi-
zation or association, in Allegany county, for the
purpose of choosing candidates for office, or the
election of delegates to county conventions,
shall be presided over and conducted by judges
of election selected in the manner prescribed by
the rules or regulations of the political party,
organization or association folding such pri-
mary, and such primary election shall be held
at such hours between nine o'clock in the fore-
noon and nine o'clock in the afternoon as may
be prescribed by the party, organization or asso-
ciation holding the same ; but such poll shall be
held open not less than one hour, and the voting
thereat shall be by ballot, provided, however,
that such poll be public to the watchers herein-
after provided, from its commencement to the
close of the canvass.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That at any time

without the right to do so, or shall wilfully and
wrongfully obstruct or prevent others from

fully conceal or destroy ballots cast, or in any
manner intentionally and wrongfully deposit
ballots in any ballot box, or take them there-
from, or shall commit any other wrong tending
