LAWS OF MARYLAND.
the said collector, in collecting the said taxes,
shall have full power to distrain for the same in
the same manner as the collectors of the state
and county taxes have, but said tax shall not
exceed twenty cents on the one hundred dollars
for any one year, and the basis of taxation shall
be the assessment as for county purposes.
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the said com-

missioners may pass all ordinances not contrary
to the laws of this state necessary to give effect
and operation to the power vested in them, and
in absence of ordinances the law of the county
shall be the law of the town.
SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That all fines and

penalties shall be for the use of said town, and
all ordinances shall be made public by being
posted in at least three public places in said
town .

Effective.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 168.
AN ACT to repeal section one of chapter two
hundred and eighteen of the acts of assembly
of eighteen hundred and seventy-six, so far as
it relates to Dorchester county, entitled "An
act to regulate the catching of fish in the waters
of the Choptank river and tributaries," and to
re-enact the same with amendments; also to
add sub-section, entitled "sub-section A," to
punish persons for obstructing hauling seine
shores and grounds.
