SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 94.
AN ACT to authorize the commissioners of
Laurel to borrow money by the issuing of
bonds to make pavements and sidewalks in
the town of Laurel, Prince George's county,
and appointing trustees to take charge of the
work, and to repeal section thirteen of the
act of eighteen hundred and seventy, chapter
two hundred and sixty.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the commissioners of

Bonds — how
issued.
|
Laurel be and they are hereby authorized, di-
rected and empowered to issue bonds in the
name of the commissioners of Laurel, in sums
of not less than one hundred dollars nor more
than one thousand dollars, to be signed by the
President of said commissioners, countersigned
y the clerk and attested by the seal, not ex-
ceeding in the aggregate the sum of ten thous-
and dollars, bearing interest not exceeding five
per centum per annum, said interest payable
semi-annually on the first days of October and
April in each and every year, and said bonds
shall not be sold for less than their par value
and be exempt from state and county and muni-
cipal taxation.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in issuing the

bonds authorized by the aforegoing section, the
commissioners shall first issue a series of bonds
not exceeding five thousand dollars, and the
remaining five thousand dollars shall not be
issued until the said balance, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, shall, in the discretion of
