FRANK BROWN, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

the public ground in the town of Denton, in Caroline county,
and the furnishing of the said court house and offices, when so
constructed, with the necessary fire-proof vaults and cases for
the reception of the public records and their preservation from
loss by fire, and with all necessary furniture for the accommo-
dation of the Circuit Court and Orphans' Court for Caroline
county, the County Commissioners and the board of school
commissioners for said county, and the members of the bar,
and with such other things as their convenience may require ;
which court house and offices shall be built by contract with
the lowest responsible bidder therefor, after public notice of
at least three weeks in such newspapers as the said commis-
sioners shall select, of the letting of the said contract; and
each bidder shall file with his said bid, a bond to the said com-
missioners in the penalty of double the amount of his bid, con-
ditioned for the execution of a contract, with good and suffi-
cient securities, for the building of the said court house and
offices in accordance with the specifications furnished by the said
commissioners; provided, that the said court house and offices
when built shall not cost exceeding twenty thousand dollars ;
and provided further, that when built, the said court house
and offices shall be under the control and superintendence of
the County Commissioners for Caroline county.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners or a
majority of them shall have full power and authority to sell
and dispose of, by publication, such part or parts of the
remains of the old court house as they may deem proper; and
the proceeds thereof shall be paid to the County Commission-
ers of Caroline county, and shall become a part and parcel of
the court house fund provided for by this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That in case either of the said
commissioners shall die or resign, or refuse to act, the other
commissioners named in this act shall have full power and
authority to supply such vacancy or vacancies.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That each of said commissioners
shall receive as compensation their actual personal expenses
whilst engaged in the contracting for the construction and fur-
nishing the said building; and shall appoint from one of their
