LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 597.

AN ACT to incorporate the Somerset Electric Light and Rail-
way Company of Somerset County, and to declare its rights,
powers, privileges and franchises.

A body cor-
porate.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That A. Lincoln Dryden, Thomas S. Hodson,
William A. Tull, Oliver P. Byrd and Isaac H. Tawes, of
Somerset county, and their associates and successors, be and
they hereby are created, constituted and declared to be a body
politic and corporate, under the name and style of the Electric
Light and Railway Company of Somerset County, and under

such name and style made capable in law to sue or be sued,
defend and be defended, plead and be impleaded, at law or in
equity; to have and use a common or corporate seal, and to
alter and remove the same at pleasure, and otherwise in all
things to do, execute and perform whatever any corporation
and body politic or individual may, can or might lawfully do,
execute and perform, within the scope and for the object

and purposes of the said corporation, as follows, namely:
To construct and lay down and to operate a railway with
the necessary and proper switches, turnouts, and any and all
mechanical contrivances, and devices, and appliances suitable
to operate an electric railway, and to run thereon cars and
carriages, drawn or propelled by electric or other motive,
between the town of Crisfield and Apes Hole Landing on
Pocomoke sound, with such laterals or branches within said
county of Somerset as said corporation may deem advantage-
ous to acquire, hold, manage, or to dispose of any personal or
real property essential or relevant to the uses aforesaid, and
also to acquire title adjacent to such line of railway, or any

lateral or branch thereof, and to develop, improve, hold and
sell; and they shall also have power to manufacture and sell,
and furnish such quantities of electric light and electric power
as may be required or desired at any point in said county ;
and to contract for and furnish electric lights for lighting the
streets, wards, public or private buildings in said county, and
of any city or town therein, and for motive power and other
purposes; and said corporation is hereby authorized and
empowered to lay, purchase and construct or build lines and
conductors and conduits under, along or upon or over the
streets, squares, lanes, alleys, roads or ways whatsoever in said
county, or any city or town therein, the consent of the County
Commissioners for Somerset county first being had and
