CHAPTER 567.
AN ACT to repeal Section eighteen of Article thirty -six of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled
"Fees of Officers," sub-title "Criers," so far as the same
applies to St. Mary's County, and to enact a substitute there-
for, providing compensation to the crier of the Circuit Court
for St. Mary's County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section eighteen of article thirty-six of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled "Fees of
Officers," sub title "Criers," be and the same is hereby re-
pealed so far as the same relates to St. Mary's county, and the
following is enacted in lieu thereof, to apply to St. Mary's
county only.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the crier of the Circuit
Court for St. Mary's county shall be entitled and receive as his
salary the amount of one hundred dollars per annum, to be
paid quarterly, which shall be in full and in lieu of the allow-
ance and fees now authorized by law; provided, that he shall

receive his usual fees as now allowed by law in cases removed
from other counties or the city of Baltimore to the Circuit
Court for St. Mary's county; and the County Commissioners
of St. Mary's are authorized and directed, at their next meet-
ing for making the county levy and annually thereafter, to
levy for the use of the crier of said court, on the assessable
property of said county, such sums of money as they shall
deem sufficient to pay the above salary of said crier of said
court, upon presentation to the County Commissioners of said
county, the certificate of the clerk of the Circuit Court of said
county, certifying the allowance of said crier hereinafter
required.
