plaintiff shall be unable to pay them, they shall be paid by the

25. If any person, without the consent in writing of the
'trustees or overseer of the alinshouse, shall sell, give, dispose
of or barter, any spirituous or fermented liquors to any pauper
connected with or living at said almshouse, he shall on convic-

each offence, in the discretion of the justice, for the use of the
almshouse.

Claims

26. All persons or corporations having claims against "The
Trustees of the Poor of Anne Arundel County" shall submit
the same in writing to the board of trustees at some one of the
stated meetings, for their examination; and the signatures of
at least three members of the board shall be required as the
evidence of examination and approval before the same is paid
by the treasurer of said county.

27. That the said trustees shall not have power nor authority

to appropriate any of the money annually levied by the
County Commissioners for said county, for the support and
maintenance of said almshouse, for erecting building or re-
pairing the buildings in said almshouse property, nor shall they
enter into any contract therefor, without first having been
ordered to do so by the said County Commissioners for said
county.

Duty of
Judges.

27 A. That it shall be the duty of the judges of the Circuit
Court for Anne Arundel county to give this sub title in charge
of the grand jury at each jury term of said court.

Statement

claims.

SEC. 2. And le it enacted, That the trustees of said aims-
house shall furnish the County Commissioners for said county,
on or before the second Tuesday in the month of May,
eighteen hundred and ninety f our, with a full statement of all
unpaid claims against said "The Trustees of the Poor of Anne
Arundel county."

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
