FRANK BROWN, ESQURE, GOVERNOR.

entitled "An act to promote, encourage and foster agriculture
in the State," and to appropriate a sum of money therefor, be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments so as to read as follows :

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That with the view of promoting, encouraging and
fostering agriculture in this State, the sum of five thousand
dollars is hereby appropriated annually for the purpose of aid-
ing the agricultural fair association now existing, or those
which may hereafter be organized in this State, to be equally
divided among said fair association, and to be paid them by
the Treasurer upon the warrant of the Comptroller of treasury,
by said association complying with the provisions of this act.

Appropria-
tion.

2. And be it enacted, That any county in this State,
whose citizens shall subscribe for and pay up a capital stock of
not less than ten thousand dollars, or shall acquire and pay for
real estate and improvements thereon to the said value of not
less than ten thousand, and shall be duly incorporated under
the laws of this State as a fair association, upon filing a certi-
fied copy of the certificate of incorporation and the affidavit of
the president of such association that the stock has been fully
paid up or the property acquired and paid for the amount
herein required, with the Comptroller, shall be entitled to the
benefits of this act; provided, that but one association in each
county shall be entitled to the benefits derived under this act.

3. And be it enacted, That no existing association or any
which may hereafter be formed in this State, for the pur-
pose of holding agricultural fairs, shall be entitled to the
benefits of this act, which has five hundred dollars surplus in
its treasury, or has, within the year preceding the application
by it for the payment of any share of the money hereby appro-
priated, declared a dividend to its stockholders.

Who not
entitled.

4. And be it enacted, That any existing association in
this State, or which may hereafter be organized, desiring to
avail itself of the provisions of this act, is hereby required to
forward to the Comptroller of the Treasury, on or before the
first Monday in December of each year, a statement under
the hand of its president, attested by the treasurer and the
corporate seal of such association, giving in detail the financial
condition of said association for the year immediately preced-
ing such application.
