SEC. 189 A. It shall be the duty of the sheriff to keep a
correct and full statement or schedule of all persons committed
to the jail, showing the length of time and the offense for
which they are committed, and the name of the officer by
whom committed, which statement or schedule, together with
all books, papers and commitments kept by him pertaining to
prisoners in the jail, shall at all times be open to the inspection
of the County Commissioners or any of them; and at the
first meeting of the County Commissioners in each month, the
sheriff shall make to them, under oath, a full and complete
report of the names and descriptions of all persons confined in
the jail, with a statement of the length of time and offense for
which they are committed, and the name of the officer by
whom committed; and for any neglect of the sheriff to com-
ply with any provision of this section, he shall be subject,
upon indictment and conviction, to a fine of not less than five
hundred dollars.

SEC. 139 B. It shall be the duty of the County Commis-
sioners to furnish all supplies and provisions necessary, in their
judgment, for the support and maintenance of all persons
committed to the jail, and all fuel and lights needed for said
jail, and feed for not more than two horses for the use of the
sheriff, in case the said sheriff shall keep so many, and to
deliver the same free of cost to the sheriff, at such times and
in such quantities as in the judgment of said County Com-
missioners may seem best.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with the provisions of this act, be and the same
are hereby repealed in so far as they relate to Carroll county,
and that this act shall take effect from the first day of June
in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-four.
