the clerk's office of said county. As treasurer he shall receive all
money that shall be collected by the said collectors of county
taxes, and all other money due the county, and shall pay out
all money so received, on orders of the County Commissioners;
and he shall open an account with each collector, in a book
kept for that purpose, charging him with the whole amount of
county assessment in his district, and such other money as may
be due therefrom to the county, and crediting him by amounts
paid in, and he shall demand prompt payments by the
collectors, make settlements with them, and report to the com-
missioners such collectors as may be in default; provided, that
in settlements made with collectors, he shall not allow any
delinquencies and insolvencies without an order for such
allowance by the commissioners. He shall also keep an
account in a proper book, between himself and the commis-
sioners, and charge himself with moneys received from all
sources, naming them, and credit himself with the amounts
paid out, and keep on tile the orders of the commissioners as
vouchers for the correctness of his disbursements; and he shall
keep the commissioners' office open from nine A. M. to four P.

Duties as
treasurer.

M. each day, Sundays and holidays excepted; and his compen-
sation as clerk and treasurer shall be one thousand dollars per
year.

Salary.

109. Before entering upon his duties as clerk or treasurer
he shall give bond, in the sum, prescribed in section 108, to the
County Commissioners, conditioned as therein prescribed; and
before entering upon his duties he shall give bond to the State
in the penalty of twenty thousand dollars, with at least two good
securities, conditioned that he will truly and faithfully dis-
charge, execute and perform all and singular the duties
required of him, or which may be required by the Constitution
and laws of this State; which said bond shall be filed in the
office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for said county, and a
certified copy of which shall be sufficient evidence in a suit
against him; and his books shall be at all times open to the
inspection of the County Commissioners.

Bonds.

110. The clerk and county treasurer, in each and every year,
at the time of the publication of the county levy, shall pub-
lish in some newspaper printed in Wicomico county a clear
and succinct statement of the finances of the county, showing
how much has been received by said treasurer, and how much
paid out and the balance in hand, also how much has been col-
lected by each collector, and how much is due from each of
said collectors, the said statement to be published three times,
