WHEREAS, The Maryland State Fireman's Association has
been organized, and among its objects and purposes is to pro-
vide assistance to volunteer firemen and their families, when
the firemen are injured in the discharge of their duty as fire-
men; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It is but just and proper that the State shall
recognize and aid in a substantial manner, a project for
the amelioration of a large class of her citizens; therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That to render financial assistance to the Maryland
State Fireman's Association, a body corporate, chartered by an
act of the General Assembly of Maryland, session of 1894,
for the use and advantage of its members, the volunteer fire-
men of Maryland, who may be injured while in the discharge
of their duty as firemen, and to the families of volunteer
firemen who may be killed while in the discharge of
their duty as firemen, that the Treasurer, on the warrant
of the Comptroller, be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to issue his warrants for sums not to exceed in all
one thousand dollars, for the year eighteen hundred and
ninety-four, and for sums not to exceed in all one thousand
dollars for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-five, or so
much thereof as may be necessary, payable to the treasurer of
the Maryland State Fireman's Association, a body corporate,
chartered by an act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
session of 1894, provided the said Maryland State Fireman's
Association, a body corporate, as aforesaid, shall comply with
the provisions of the following sections.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller shall issue his warrant upon
the Treasurer for such sum or sums as may be provided for by
the constitution and by-laws of the said Maryland State Fire-
man's Association, a body corporate, as aforesaid, upon the
presentation of an order setting forth the name of the person
injured or killed, the name of the beneficiary, the nature of
the injury and the amount to be paid; said order to be certi-
fied to and endorsed by the president, treasurer, recording sec-
retary and chairman of the executive committee of said Mary-
land State Fireman's Association, setting forth the fact of the
injury or death of a member, and certifying that the sum
named in said order, is the amount allowed by the constitution
and by-laws of said association for such character of injuries ;
and that said association have directed that the sum named in
