SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this act or any
part of this act shall at all times be liable to be amended,
altered or repealed by the General Assembly of Maryland.

Amendment
or repeal.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

Approved February 9th, 1894.

CHAPTER 14.

AN ACT to refund to certain Registers of Wills, various
sums of money erroneously paid by them into the treasury.


WHEREAS, By an act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
passed at the January session, 1892, chapter 564, approved
April 7th, of the same year, the rate of commissions of the
registers of wills on moneys belonging to the State, was
changed from five per centum to twenty-five per centum; and

WHEREAS, Under a misconstruction of said act, as after-

ward's determined in an opinion given by the Attorney-General,
said registers of wills retained only five per centum on moneys
collected by them, from the first Monday in March, 1892, to
the 7th day of April, 1892, (the date of the approval of said
act), when they should have retained twenty-five per centum
on moneys so collected and paid over by them during said
period. Now, therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the Treasurer
in favor of the following named persons for the amounts
therein mentioned, viz: E. H. Roe, Register of Wills for
Howard county, thirty-four dollars and eighty-nine cents ;
Charles S. Parran, Register of Wills for Calvert county, six
dollars and seven cents; W. F. Petherbridge, Register of Wills
for Anne Arundel county, thirty-five dollars and thirty-two
cents; George C. Dawson, Register of Wills for Montgomery
county, thirteen dollars and forty-nine cents; R. E. Jamar,
Register of Wills for Cecil county, fourteen dollars and five
cents; R. F. Maddox, Register of Wills for Somerset county,
five dollars and twenty-three cents; James K. Waters, Register
of Wills for Frederick county, one hundred and tive dollars
and sixty-seven cents; Thomas D: Purnell, Register of Wills
