preceding the election, to be mayor of said town; and one
person in each of the wards herein provided for and two
conncilmen at large, who shall possess the same qualifications

by the voters of said wards, to be city council men of said town;
and annually there-after on the first Monday of April, such
citizens shall elect one person having the qualifications above
described, to be mayor, and two councilmen at large, to be
elected from residents of the town at large, who shall possess
the same qualifications, and those selected from the wards shall
be residents of the wards for which they shall be chosen; every
second year thereafter there shall beelected one councilman from
each of said wards, possessing the same qualifications, who shall
each be a resident of the ward for which he is chosen. The

said town of Laurel shall be divided into three wards, as fol-
lows: Ward number one shall embrace all of said town lying
westerly of a line drawn from the southerly limitsof the town
at a point where the westerly line of Church street inserts said
limits, running northerly along the westerly line of Church
street to Main street, and thence in a straight line by the same
course to the Patuxent river; ward number two shall embrace
all of said town between the above mentioned line and a line
drawn from a point in the southerly limits of said town where
the westerly line of Fourth street inserts it, northerly to Main
street, along said line to Fourth street; thence to the westerly
side of Race street, and thence to the Patuxent river by the
course of the westerly line of Race street; ward number three
shall embrace all the residue of said town lying easterly of the
last above mentioned lines.

Judges and
clerks of
election.

SEC. 194. The elections hereunder shall be held at such
place as the mayor and city council may designate, after at
least ten days' public notice of the same given by them, and
three judges and two clerks thereof shall be designated and
appointed by them ten days prior thereto; the polls shall be
kept open at such place as shall be designated by the mayor
and city council, from two o'clock p. M.- to seven o'clock
p. M., when they shall be closed and the ballots publicly
counted; and the said judges shall, within two days after said
election, make a true and correct return of the same under
their hands, to be addressed and transmitted to the mayor, who
shall convene the city council on the second day after the
election to receive the returns of the same, and all persons
shall be voted for on one general ticket.
