JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

meet a like committee from the General Assembly of Mary-
land, with a view to investigate the conflict between the Vir-
gini State Steamer Chesapeake and certain dredgers; and

WHERESS, It is proper that the State of Maryland should
take similar action; therefore,

Preamble.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
a committee of five, consisting of two members of the Senate
and three members of the House of Delegates, be appointed,
who may act separately or conjointly with the said committee
appointed by the State of Virginia, with reference to the con-
flict between the said steamer Chesapeake and the dredging
vessels mentioned, whose duty it shall be to investigate and
ascertain the facts in connection with said conflict; the said
committee to have power to sit during the recess of the Gen-
eral Assembly, and to send for persons and to enforce the
attendance of witnesses; and shall have snch other powers as
may be necessary to enable the said committee to make a full
and complete investigation of the subject referred to them ;
and

Be it further resolved, That the said committee, upon the
completion of the investigation to be made by them hereunder,
shall report the facts ascertained, together with their own con-
clusions, as to the subject matter of their investigation, to the
Governor of Maryland, who is hereby authorized to take such
action during the recess of the General Assembly as he may
deem proper in the premises.

Be it further resolved, That the committee named in this
joint resolution, shall be composed of the Honorables Levin L.
Waters and Thomas G. Hayes, on the part of the Senate, and
the Honorables Charles H. Carter, Lloyd Wilkinson and Wm.
H. Legg, on the part of the House of Delegates.

man, as judge of the fourth judicial circuit of Maryland.

associate judge of the fourth judicial circuit of Maryland,
will attain the age of seventy years on the 17th of November,
1895; and
