SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the petition filed as
aforesaid shall contain the name or names of the applicant

or applicants; the name of the grounds upon which the
license is desired; 3d, a definite description of the place
wherein such grounds are located; 4th, the day or days for
which such license is desired; and there shall be annexed to
said petition on a certificate signed by at least twenty-five
respectable qualified voters of the election district in which
such grounds are located, praying the commissioners to
grant said license.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That in such license
the name of the grounds, track or park shall be stated, and
the number of days in which and the months thereof during
which betting, pool selling or book making shall be per-
mitted shall be specified.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the commissioners

and empowered to fill any vacancy or vacancies in their
number caused by death, resignation or otherwise.
SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That if any person or
corporation shall conduct or manage any horse racing, or

racing without first being duly licensed therefor, as provided
in this Act, such person or corporation shall be liable to the
penalties now provided under the general laws of this State.
SEC. 9. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 494.

AN ACT to establish a New Election District in Dorches-
ter County, to be known as the Seventeenth or Salem
Election District of Dorchester County; providing for
the appointment of public officials for said district, giving
the residents of said district fishing privileges in the
Transquakin and Chicacomico rivers, and prohibiting the
sale of intoxicating liquors in said district.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That there shall be and by the authority of this Act
