powers belonging to collectors of taxes of said county at

the date of the passage of the Act of 1898, Chapter 204, so
far as the same are not inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act and its purposes, and so far as the same will facili-
tate the treasurer of said county in the discharge of his
duties hereunder, shall be possessed by and hereby given to
said treasurer, but he shall not by implication be held to
possess any of the powers of such collectors as might tend
to delay him in the discharge of his duties, or render the
purpose of this Act more difficult.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the 16th day of April, 1906.

CHAPTER 469.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
517 of the Acts of 1898, Chapter 123, title " City of Bal-
timore," sub-title "Charter," as re-enacted by Act of
1902, Chapter 391.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 517 of Act of 1898, Chapter 123, title

" City of Baltimore," sub-title "Charter," as re-enacted by
Act of 1902, Chapter 391, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as
follows :

Section 517. The Mayor and City Council of Baltimore

re-enact.

may annually appropriate a sufficient sum of money to pay
for the support and maintenance of each minor committed
from the city of Baltimore by legal process, not exceeding
eighty dollars per annum for each minor so committed to
the following reformatories: House of Refuge, St. Mary's
Industrial School, Colored House of Reformation, House of
Good Shepherd for Colored Girls, Industrial Home for
Colored Girls, and to any other reformatories to which such
minors may be so committed, and may appropriate, in con-
formity with the requirements of Sections 105 and 107 of
this Article, annually, a sum of money not exceeding five
thousand dollars to the Boys' Home Society of Baltimore
City, and annually a sum of money not exceeding ten
thousand dollars to the Female House of Refuge and to St.
