said company shall be authorized to cross or otherwise use
the public streets or highways of said county; and pro-
vided, further, that the said company shall have no right to
acquire by condemnation proceedings any mines, quarries,
water-rights, or to obstruct or divert, or in any manner
interfere with any river or its tributaries, or any streams,
mill-race or water-courses whatsoever within the limits of
Cecil county, aforesaid.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 464.
AN ACT to exempt from taxation property belonging to and
used by the Fire Insurance Salvage Corps of Baltimore.
WHEREAS, By Section 4 of Article 81 of the Code of Public

Preamble.

General Laws, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title
"Exemptions," the property in this State belonging to any
county of this State or incorporated city or town of this State,
are exempt from taxation; and
WHEREAS, The city of Baltimore has established a fire
department and in connection therewith, and for the purposes
for which the fire departments are established, owned property,
both real and personal, which is so exempt from taxation ;
and
WHEREAS, Various insurance companies have in pursuance
of the Act of Assembly passed at the January Session, 1886,
Chapter 113, and also the Act of Assembly of 1888, Chapter
72, established a salvage corps for the purposes therein set
forth, and especially to save and preserve property from
destruction by fire and water, and maintain the same without
expense to the city; and
WHEREAS, It is right and proper that such properties
should be exempt from taxation; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

by the Fire Insurance Salvage Corps of Baltimore in pursuance
of Section 2, Chapter 72 of the Acts of 1888, be and the
same is hereby exempt from taxation for all county and
municipal purposes.
