CHAP. 459

and one who has had responsible charge of work for at least
that length of time; he shall perform all the duties hereto-
fore performed by the City Commissioner unless otherwise
provided in this article; he shall receive a salary of forty-
five hundred dollars per annum, payable monthly, and per-
form such other duties as may be prescribed by ordinances
not inconsistent with this article; he shall have power to
appoint such subordinates as he may require, and fix their
compensation, not, however, to exceed in number or compen-
sation the limits fixed by ordinance; provided, however, that
nothing in this Act contained shall be construed to in any
wise impair or modify the powers conferred upon the sewer-
age commission created under the provisions of Chapter 349
of the Acts of 1904.
SEC. 2. And be it farther enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage, except as to the increase in
the present salary of the City Solicitor, which shall not take
effect during the incumbency of the present City Solicitor.

CHAPTER 460.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Independent Lumber
and Milling Company of Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

Company of Baltimore City be and is hereby changed from
the Independent Lumber and Milling Company of Baltimore
City to the Independent Lumber and Mill Company of
Baltimore City.

granted.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said body corporate
shall have the further power to buy and sell lumber, timber,
wood and trees, and mill the same into building material.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
Approved April 3, 1906.

CHAPTER 461.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Dorchester County to build a bridge across Cabin
Creek, in said County.
