be appointed by the Governor within ten days after the pas-
sage of this Act, by nomination to the Senate, if in session,
and subject to its confirmation; two of said directors shall
serve two years, two of them shall serve four years, and two
of them shall serve for six years, respectively, from their date
of appointment, and the Governor shall designate the term
of service of each with his appointment; at the session of
the Legislature of 1908, and every recurring session there-
after, the Governor shall within fifty days of the first day
thereof, appoint two directors of said hospital to serve for
six years, and said appointments shall be transmitted to the
Senate within said fifty days and be subject to its confir-
mation; the other members of the board of directors shall
be elected by said board at such time and in such manner as
its by-laws may determine, and all vacancies therein shall be

filled by said board, except for State directors; vacancies
among the State directors shall be filled by the Governor as
they occur; the said corporation may provide in its by-
laws or otherwise for the voluntary association of women,
under the direction of the board of directors, for the pur-
pose of assisting in promoting the interests of its hospital
and sanatoria and in the collection of money for their needs,
either under the name of the women's board or any other
name that may be chosen to designate them, but said asso-
ciation as such shall not be part of the body corporate.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the sum of fifteen
thousand dollars is hereby appropriated to the " The Hos-

pital for Consumptives of Maryland " for the fiscal year of
1907, ten thousand dollars of which is to be used in the
erection of necessary buildings and structures in the moun-
tain regions of this State for the treatment of tuberculosis,
and five thousand dollars for maintenance; and twenty
thousand dollars is hereby appropriated for the year 1908,
fifteen thousand dollars of which is to be used for building
and structures as above specified, and five thousand dollars
for maintenance for the like purpose as for the year 1907 ;
and the Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to
issue his warrants on the Treasurer to meet the appropria-
tions herein made.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
