CHAP. 274

Perpetual suc-
cession.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said corporation by
the name and style, as provided in Section 1 of this Act,
shall have perpetual succession, with the power to have a
common seal and to change the same at pleasure; to make
contracts relative to said institution; to sue and be sued,
and by its name and style shall be capable of purchasing,
taking, holding and conveying any estate, real or personal,
for the use of said corporation, and to establish by-laws and
orders for the regulation of the said corporation and the
preservation and application of the funds thereof; and the
said corporation is authorized to sell, mortgage, exchange or
dispose of and convey all or any part of the property, real or
personal, that it may acquire by gift, purchase or otherwise.
SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That every person who shall
hereafter subscribe to the articles of said association and

pay to the funds of said corporation the sum of fifty dollars,
or ten dollars annually, on or before the last day of May in
each year, for the term of ten consecutive years, shall be a
life member, and every person paying the sum of one dollar
or more annually, on or before the last day of May in each
year, shall be a member and entitled to all the rights of a
member while he or she continues to contribute and pay the
said sum annually, on or before the last day of May in each
year.
SEC 11. And beit enacted, That the estate and concerns of
said corporation shall be managed and conducted by a board
