CHAPTER 263.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
886 A of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"City of Baltimore," sub-title "Vagrant, Dependent and
Vicious Children."
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 886 A of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Vagrant,

enact.

Dependent and Vicious Children," is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows :
886 A. The Supreme Bench of Baltimore city is authorized
to appoint from time to time, in such number as it may deem
|
|
|

officer.
|
proper, persons of either sex, to serve during its pleasure, as
probation officers, five of whom shall be designated by the
court as paid officers, and shall each receive from the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore a salary of twelve hundred
dollars per annum, payable monthly. Probation officers are
deemed officers of the various courts presided over by the
judges of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore city, exercising
functions under the authority and direction of such courts,
and, in the execution of their office, are vested with the priv-
ileges and authority of conservators of the peace.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Federated Jewish Charities of
Baltimore.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

liam Levy, Eli Frank and Leon E. Greenbaum, all of Balti-
more city and State of Maryland, and their associates and
successors, be and they are hereby created a body corporate,
under and by the name and style of "Federated Jewish
Charities of Baltimore," and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, and be capable to sue and be sued, to com-
plain and defend in any court of law or equity; to make
and adopt a constitution and by-laws for its government, and
