CHAPTER 223.

AN ACT to incorporate the "Maryland Tobacco Growers
Association."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That George T. Hutchins, of Saint Mary's county ;

Samuel Cox, Jr., of Charles county; Elisha E. Berry,
of Prince George's county; William F. Robinson and
John H. Drury, of Calvert county; W. Frank Chaney and
Franklin Weems, of Anne Arundel county; Langdon S.
Day, Thomas E. Watkins and William A. Walker, of Carroll
county, and all such other persons as they may associate
with them, and their successors, be, and they are hereby
created a body corporate by the name and style of the
"Maryland Tobacco Growers Association," and by that
name shall have perpetual succession, and may sue and be
sued in any court whatever, and may adopt a constitution
and ordain such by-laws, rules and regulations as may be
necessary and proper, not contrary to law and inconsistent
therewith, and the same may alter, change and amend as
may be expedient, and may have and use a common seal,
and generally may do any and all act or acts, thing or
things necessary to carry into effect the provisions of this
Act, and promote the welfare and purposes of the corpora-
tion.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said corpora-

tion shall have the power to receive subscriptions, donations,
devises and bequests of money, or real or personal property,
in trust or otherwise, and to purchase or otherwise acquire
and hold such property for the objects of its incorporation,
not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars, and to sell,
convey, lease and mortgage same, and to borrow and loan
money.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the principal office

of said corporation shall be located at the Maryland Agri-
cultural College, in Prince George's county, Maryland, and
that the operations of said corporation shall be carried on
in the State of Maryland.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That said corporation

and specially to grow, handle, pack, manufacture, market,
buy, sell, sell on commission, inspect and store tobacco and
issue warehouse receipts therefor.
