CHAPTER 12.
AN ACT to repeal Section 132 of Article 20 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title " Somerset County," sub-title
"Justices of the Peace and Constables," and all amend-
ments thereto, and to re-enact same with amendments.
SECTION 1. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Repeal and
re-enact.
|
Maryland, That Section 132 of Article 20 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Somerset County," sub-title "Jus-
tices of the Peace and Constables," be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :

Number of Jus-
tices of the
peace and
constables.
|
Section 132. There shall be the following number of jus-
tices of the peace and constables for Somerset County, to wit :
For each and every election district in said county not less
than one nor more than three justices of the peace and such
number of constables not exceeding three in any district as
the Board of County Commissioners in its discretion may
appoint.

Repeal.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all laws or parts of laws
inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the same
are hereby repealed and that this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 13.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Prince George's County," sub-
title " Sheriff " to follow Section 298, and to be designated
as Section 298 A.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added
to Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Prince
George's County," sub-title "Sheriff," to follow Section 298,
to be designated as Section 298 A, to read as hereinafter :

Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, The Constitution of Maryland declares that
sheriffs shall not be eligible to re-election, until one full
term respectively after their terms; and
WHEREAS, It has been the custom from year to year for
the incoming sheriff to appoint as his chief deputy his
predecessor in office; and
