Authority
given to
appoint
committees,
etc.

have the power to appoint all committees and officers of the
town, only by and with the consent, advice and approval of
the Council. The Mayor is hereby required to sign all ordi-
nances passed by said town, and the same attested by the
clerk with the corporate seal thereto attached.
SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That the Council shall keep a

separate book, containing the rules and regulations while in
session, by-laws and ordinances of the town, and each shall
state the day of its passage, with a record of the yea and nay
vote, and the date of its operation; and all ordinances before
they become effective shall have the signature of the Mayor,
attested by the clerk, and each one shall be numbered in
order as it is passed and all repeals of ordinances shall be
recorded therein. The Council shall also keep a separate
book of all licenses and permits granted, and a separate
book for all sidewalk tax that is levied, and a separate book
for all water rents charged, and separate accounts for all fines
collected.
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That the Mayor shall annually

appoint, by and with the consent, advice and approval of the
Council, one member of the Council to audit the accounts of
the treasurer, and the said auditor shall make quarterly
audits and report the same to the Council with his recom-
mendations.
SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That the Mayor shall keep a

criminal docket with index, and shall record all proceedings
of cases which come before him for trial.
SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That those parts of the several
|
|
|
Public streets
and avenues
|
county roads within the limits of said town are hereby made
and declared to be public streets or avenues of said town,
and shall be from time to time improved and repaired as in
the discretion of the Council the public interest may require
and the resources of the town may justify.
SEC...22. And be it enacted, That the Commissioners of

|
|
May have, hold
and exercise
their offices
as heretofore
|
the county, the board of public school commissioners, jus-
tices of the peace, sheriffs, constables and all other State and
county officers shall have, hold and exercise their offices in
said town as heretofore, except as qualified by other sections
of this Act. The County Commissioners of Montgomery
county shall on or before the first day of January in each
and every year thereafter pay over to the town of Glen Echo
