not become effective unless the duly qualified voters of the
city of Annapolis, at such election called for the purpose,
shall by a majority of the votes duly cast declare their assent
to the borrowing of such money and the issuing of the bonds
therein mentioned, and the purposes to which such money
shall be applied.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor, Coun-
sellor and Aldermen of the city of Annapolis, in the event of

the approval of such ordinance by the qualified voters of
the city of Annapolis, is hereby authorized and empowered
to do all things necessary for the issuance of such bonds,
their offering for sale under the most advantageous condi-
tions, the providing of a sinking fund for the purpose of
meeting the interest on such bonds and their payment upon
maturity, and all other things in connection with the procur-
ing of the loan, the issuance and payment of bonds, and
carrying on the work provided under the ordinance as may
be necessary and proper.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 554.
AN ACT to amend the Charter and enlarge the powers of
the Consolidated Gas Company of Baltimore City, a cor-
poration heretofore incorporated, by the consolidation of
certain gas companies under the provisions of the General
Incorporation Laws of this State.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

Baltimore City, a corporation duly incorporated under the
provisions of the general incorporation laws of this State, by
the consolidation of the Consolidated Gas Company of Bal-
timore City, the Chesapeake Gas Company of Baltimore
City, and the Equitable Gas Light Company of Baltimore
City, be and the same is hereby amended so that said cor-
poration may be and it hereby is authorized, in addition to
the powers vested in it by said consolidation, authorized and
empowered to manufacture and supply gas in Harford
county for all the purposes, and with all powers which it
