service during the Civil War, 1861-5, whose duty it shall be
to carry out the provisions of this law.

SEC. 4. That upon the exhibit of properly authenticated

authorized, the Comptroller of the Treasury for the State of
Maryland is hereby authorized and directed to draw his
warrants upon the Treasurer of Maryland for the payment of
the same.

SEC. 5. That this Act shall take effect from the date of its
passage.

CHAPTER 540.

AN ACT to give and declare the sanction of the General
Assembly of Maryland to a lease from the" Third Church of
the United Brethren in Christ to George Haffer, and deed
from the said Third Church of the United Brethren in
Christ to John A. Sand.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land. That sanction of the General Assembly of Maryland
be and it is hereby declared and given to the lease from the
Third Church of the United Brethern in Christ to George
Haffer, dated September 11, 1867, and recorded among the
land records of Baltimore city in Liber A. M. No. 349, folio
43, etc., of four certain lots of ground in Baltimore city on
the south side of Lombard street west of Fulton street, and
in said lease more fully described; and also in a deed from
the Third Church of the United Brethren in Christ to John
A. Sand, dated November 14, 1868, and recorded among
said land records in Liber S. R. No. 399, folio 404, etc., of
two of said lots being on the south side of Lombard street
distant one hundred and thirty-six feet, and one hundred
and fifty-two feet six inches, respectively, westerly from the
west side of Fulton street.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
