CHAP. 606

CHAPTER 506.
AN ACT to amend Article 27 of the Code of Public General
Laws, relative to "Crimes and Punishments," by adding
two additional Sections thereto, entitled Section 141 A and
Section 141s, under sub-title "Health — Employment of
Children."

New sections
added.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the following sections be and the same are
hereby added to Article 27 of the Code of Public General
Laws, relative to "Crimes and Punishments," under the sub-
title "Health — Employment of Children," to read as follows:

Employment
of minors.

141 A. No person shall employ a minor under sixteen years
of age in handling intoxicating liquors, or in handling pack-
ages containing intoxicating liquors, in any brewery or bottling
establishment where intoxicating liquors are prepared for sale
or offered for sale.

Penalty,
for violation

Section 141 B. Whoever violates the provisions of this Act
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof
shall, in the discretion of the Court, be fined a sum not less
than ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars, or be
imprisoned in jail for not less than tive nor more than thirty
days, in default of payment of said tine.
Approved April 8, 1902.

CHAPTER 507.
AN ACT to pay William Moore and John Sterling, owners
of the schooner "Bessie L. Leach," the sum of one hun-
dred and fifty-eight dollars and eighty-nine cents, indemnity
to them for damage to said schooner by collision with the
State Steamer "Governor McLane."

Preamble

WHEREA.S, On the evening of November 6, 1899, the State
steamer "Governor McLane" did run into the schooner
"Bessie L. Leach," while the said schooner was at anchor at
the usual place of anchorage in the harbor of Crisfield,
Maryland ; and
WHEREAS, The said State steamer and the captain thereof
were in fault and responsible for said collision ; and
WHEREAS, William Moore and John Sterling, owners of
said schooner, are citizens of the State of Maryland, and by
reason of said citizenship are unable to obtain redress through
the Courts ; and
