Wicomico County, to issue bonds for defraying the cost of
repairing fire engines.

53. Whenever it shall be necessary to enforce the payment
of taxes by sale of personal property, the said treasurer shall
have all the authority now vested by law in the sheriff of said
county, under an execution from a justice of the peace, to
make a levy upon the personal property of the delinquent and
to sell the same to satisfy and pay the taxes so due, and the
said treasurer shall be entitled to the same fees that the sheriff
of said county is now entitled to when proceeding under an
execution from a justice of the peace, and the said treasurer
shall conform in all his proceedings under this seclion to the
rules and practice now governing the sheriff of said county in
the discharge of his duties as required by law under an execu-
tion issued by a justice of the peace.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the third Tuesday in April, nineteen hundred
and four (1904.)

CHAPTER 462.
AN ACT to authorize the Board of Police Commissioners of
Baltimore City to increase the pension of Andrew P. Cald-
well, a retired policeman and clerk of the police force of
Baltimore city.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board of Police Commissioners of Bal-
timore City be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
pay to Andrew P. Caldwell, a retired policeman and clerk of
the police force of Baltimore city, out of the fund in the hands
of said Board of Police Commissioners, known and accounted
for as the special fund, the sum of nine dollars per week for
life in lieu of the sum of six dollars per week now paid to the
said Andrew P. Caldwell by said Board of Police Commis-
sioners, under and by authority of chapter 12 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of 1900, said increase to be paid from
and after the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
