CHAP. 416.

scholarships

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board of County Commissioners of
Frederick County, Maryland be and they are hereby author-
ized and directed to pay the sum of five hundred dollars per
annum to Fleet R. Neighbors, the principal of the Buckeys-
town Normal School ; provided, however, that the Board of
School Commissioners of Frederick County, Maryland, shall
have the power to appoint after a competitive examination of
the candidates ten students, whose tuition shall be free in said
school ; provided, that each student receiving such appoint-
ment shall give bond to Frederick county for such amount as
may be approved by said school commissioners that he will
teach in the public schools of said county not less than one
year for each year's tuition received.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 417.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 133 and 134, Article 81 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Revenue
and Taxes," sub-title "State Tax Commissioner," and to
re-enact the same with amendments, so as to read as follows :

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 133 and 134 of Article 81 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled "Revenue
and Taxes," sub-title "State Tax Commissioner," be and the
same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, so
as to read as follows :

133. The president, cashier or other chief officers of any
bank or banking association, State or National, or other incor-
porated institution, located and doing business in this State,
shall, by the fifteenth day of March in each year, report to
the State Tax Commissioner a true and correct statement of
the number of shares of capital stock in such bank or banking
association, or other incorporated institutions of which he is
president, cashier or chief officer, and the par value of each
share, with such information in regard to the value of the
same as may be required by the said commissioner, and may
be in the possession of such officer as of the first day of Janu-
ary of each year, and the commissioner shall, annually, by the
fifteenth day of May in each year, assess the said shares as
hereinafter provided as of the first day of January next pre-
ceding, and levy the State taxes prescribed by law upon the
