to imprisonment in the county jail for not less than thirty
days nor more than six months, or both fine and imprisonment,
in the discretion of the Court, and his license shall be
revoked ; and in default of payment of any tine and coats so
imposed, the bond herein provided for shall be put to suit for
the recovery thereof ; and it shall not be necessary in an
indictment for said second offense to allege a former convic-
tion under the provisions of this Act, but such former
conviction may be proven in the trial for said second offense,
or brought to the notice of the Court before sentence, with-
out such allegation. Any person who shall knowingly pro-
cure for or give to an habitual drunkard any intoxicating,
spirituous or fermented liquors or lager beer, in violation of
the provisions of this Act, shall be subject to a fine of not
more than one hundred dollars, or to imprisonment in the
county jail for not more than six months, or both fine and
imprisonment in the discretion of the Court. The license of
any person who permits minors to frequent, loiter or loaf
about his place, or disreputable or disorderly persons to make
it a customary place of visitation or resort, may at any time,
on indictment and conviction, be revoked by the Circuit
Court for Allegany County, and the same person shall not
again be licensed within two years of the time of such
revocation.

CHAP. 415.

Penalty
for violation.


175 P. It shall be unlawful for any licensee under this Act
to sell any spirituous liquors or lager beer, or to suffer or
permit any person to enter or remain in his saloon between
the hours of 12 o'clock P. M. and 5.30 o'clock A. M. Any
person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be
liable upon indictment and conviction to the penalties pre-
scribed for licensees in section 175 L.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 416.
AN ACT to empower and require the Board of County Com-
missioners of Frederick County, Maryland, to provide for
free scholarships to students of Frederick County in the
Buckeystown Normal School in said county.

WHEREAS, The Buckeystown Normal School of Bnckeys-
town, Frederick county, Maryland, has been for more than
thirteen years educating teachers who have been giving
efficient service in the public schools, but the great demand
for trained teachers requires further provisions.
