CHAP. 397.

CHAPTER 397.
AN ACT to confirm and extend the operation of Chapter 268
of the Acts of 1894, and to further authorize the construc-
tion of the Queen Anne's Railroad through the counties of
Talbot and Dorchester, and to amend the charter of said
Railroad Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That chapter 268 of the Acts of the Assembly of
1894 is hereby amended so as to allow and authorize the
Queen Anne's Railroad Company, in said Act mentioned, in
the construction of the branch of its railway therein authorized
to be constructed from Wye Mills, in Queen Anne's county,
via Easton to Trappe, in Talbot county, to leave the main line
of said railway at Willoughby or any point within four miles
thereof, instead of at Wye Mills, and to construct eaid branch
of railway via Easton and Trappe, in Talbot county, to Cam-
bridge Landing, or some point in the vicinity thereof, on the
north bank of Choptank river, and to have and maintain a
ferry from said last-named point to the town of Cambridge, in
Dorchester county, and to acquire by purchase or condemna-
tion, in accordance with the laws of this State applying to the
condemnation of lands for railway purposes, such wharves,
tracks, warehouses, elevators and other terminal facilities as
may be requisite for the conduct of business as a railway and
ferry company employing steam or any other motive power,
and said railroad company is further authorized to connect
at Cambridge, or such other point in the vicinity of said town
as may he convenient, with the Cambridge and Chesapeake
Railroad Company or any other railroad hereafter to be con-
structed, and to lease or be consolidated with such connecting
line of railway on terms to be approved by the board of direc-
tors of the two companies, and which lines of railway when so
leased and consolidated may be operated as a single railway
under the title and possession and corporate rights and franchises
of the said Queen Anne's Railroad Company, and said Queen
Anne's Railroad Company is further authorized to issue

as separate mortgage upon the branch of railway hereby
authorized to be constructed, to be known as the Easton
and Cambridge Branch, and upon the addition of said
branch herein authorized to be acquired by lease or other
process of consolidation, which mortgage or deed of trust
when so executed shall be a first lien prior to all others
upon the railroad bed, track, property of all kinds, includ-
ing the terminals, boats and appliances used in connection
.with the said ferry service herein authorized, and the rents,
