Oath
to be taken.
|
Section 19. The person so killing, shooting or destroying
any such hawk, owl, weasel, mink, fox, wildcat or polecat
shall take said hawk, owl, mink, fox, wildcat or polecat or the
head thereof, before some justice of the peace of said eounty,
as evidence of such killing or destroying and shall make oath
that the same is bona fide killed or destroyed in said county,
and said justice of the peace shall thereupon burn said head
or so brand it that the same cannot be used again in evidence,

and shall give the party producing the same a certificate that
such head lias been produced before and destroyed or branded
by him, and that the party producing the same had made
such affidavit, and shall receive from such person the sum of
fifteen cents for every certificate so issued, which certificate
shall enumerate the number of scalps so produced; but a
separate certificate shall be required for each species of bird
or animal set forth in this section.

Treasurer
to pay
certificate.
|
Section 20. The treasurer of said county upon presentation
of such certificate shall pay to the party holding the same the
sum or sums provided by section 19 of this Act.
|

Contingent
fund.
|
Section 21. The County Commissioners in making the
annual levy for each year shall levy in the hands of said
treasurer a contingent fuud to meet the payments required to
be made by him under the last preceding section, and if at
the end of the year it shall prove insufficient they shall levy
such additional sum theretor as may be necessary.

Section 22. If the treasurer for any reason shall refuse to
pay the said sum or sums upon presentation of such certificate
of said justices, then an action shall lie against the County
Commissioners to recover the same.

|
Game law.
|
Section 97. It shall not be lawful for any person to kill or
destroy, or try to kill or destroy, any wild deer in Allegany
county on and after the first day of January until the fifteenth
day of October in each and every year, nor at any time to
chase the same with dogs, nor to permit any dog or dogs under
his control or ownership to hunt for or pursue any wild deer
in said county, and for each and every violation of this section
the offender shall, on conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and pay a fine of not less than twenty dollars, and in default
of payment the party so convicted shall be committed to the
county jail for a period of thirty days or until the fines and
costs are paid.

for violation.
|
Section 99. Any person in whose hands or custody any
deer flesh or deer skins shall be found that shall appear to
ha,ve been killed or taken in violation of section 97 of this
Act shall, upon conviction thereof, be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and. subjected to the penalties prescribed in section
