sary or proper to carry into effect the provisions of this Act,
and promote the designs of the corporation.

CHAP. 241.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall have
the power to purchase, lease and otherwise acquire and hold
real and personal property in Anne Arundel and Prince
George's counties, such property to be used and applied by it
for the uses of said corporation consistent with the provisions
of this Act, and to sell and dispose of the same, and perform
all acts consistent with this Act and the laws of the State ;
provided, however, that the property to be held by said cor-
poration, at any time, shall not exceed in value twenty thou-
sand dollars.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 242.

AN ACT to refund to certain Collectors of State Taxes
herein mentioned moneys erroneously paid by them into
the State Treasury.

May acquire
and hold
property.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he
is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon
the Treasurer of this State in favor of the following collectors
of State taxes for moneys erroneously paid by them into the
State treasury, the same having received the recommendation
of the treasury officials, viz.: William E. Griffith, collector
second district Allegany county for years 1894-5, three hun-
dred and sixty-three dollars and thirty-two cents ($363.32) ;
Benjamin F. Middleton, collector first district Allegany
county for year 1897, ten dollars and twenty-six cents
($10.26) ; P. Clarence Barnes, collector fifth district Allegany
county for year 1897, two dollars and sixty-one cents ($2.61) ;
David D. Price, collector third district Allegany county for
year 1899, forty-three dollars and forty-five cents ($43.45) ;
Henry Christ, collector fourth district Charles county for year
1899, thirty-one dollars and ninety-seven cents ($31.97); J.
William Baughman, collector Frederick county for years 1892
to 1897, both inclusive, three thousand four hundred and sixty
dollars and twenty-six cents ($3,460.26) ; George L. Kaufman,
collector Frederick county for years 1898-9, one thousand
three hundred and forty-one dollars and seventy-six cents
($1,341.76), and to the said George L. Kaufman, collector
Frederick county for years 1898-9, for mortgage tax, four
