such terms as the Mayor and Council of Pocomoke City may
deem for the best interest of the town.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 224.
AN ACT to add a new Section to Article eighteen of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Queen Anne's County,"
under a new sub-title "State's Attorney," to follow Section
232 of said Article, and to be designated Section 232 A,
providing for an annual salary for the State's Attorney for
said county in lieu of his compensation by fees, and repeal-
ing all laws, geaeral or local, inconsistent therewith.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby
added to Article eighteen of the Code of Public Local Laws, '
title "Queen Anne's County," under a new sub-title " State's
Attorney," to follow Section 232 of said Article, to be desig-
nated Section 232 A, and to read as follows :
232 A. The State's Attorney for Queen Anne's county, from

and after the first day of January, nineteen hundred and two,
shall receive an annual salary of one thousand dollars for the
performance from and after said date of the official duties of
his said office, which are now or may hereafter be required by
law, said salary to be in lieu of all fees, appearance and trial,
and other compensation for same, and to be payable semi-
annually, in equal instalments, by the county treasurer on the
warrant of the County Commissioners of said county ; and
said duties shall also include his services before the justices of
the peace of said county in criminal cases in preliminary hear-
ings or trials when, in the public interest, he attends on his
own motion or at the request of any of said justices ; pro-

vided, however, that his actual expenses incurred in following
and trying criminal cases removed from said county shall -be
paid in addition to said salary ; and that all general or local
laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act be and the
same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
