LAWS OF MARYLAND.

sioners of said county in equal quarterly instalments, the sum
of one hundred and fifty dollars per annum, and shall receive
no other or further fees for any services rendered by them in
criminal cases or arrests for violation of any of the laws of
the State of Maryland, and said justices shall issue, upon appli-
cation therefor, warrants for the arrest of persons charged
with violating any provisions of the laws of Maryland, and
shall account for and pay over to the Board of School Com-
missioners for said county, all fines and penalties collected by
them which are payable to said School Commissioners under
the law, and to tiie County Commissioners of said county all
fines and penalties collected by them which are payable to said
County Commissioners under the law.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it hereby further enacted, That this act shall
take effect on the first day of May, in the year" eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-six, and all acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland and all parts of acts are hereby repealed in so far
as they are in conflict with the provisions of this act, and so far
only.

CHAPTER 70.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the School Commissioners
of Anne Arundel County to appropriate a sufficient sum of
money for the purchase of a site and the erection of a school
house for colored children, in the first election district of
Anne Arundel County, near Hope Chapel, in said district,
and for the purchase of a site and erection of a school house
thereon for white children, in the third election district
of said county, at or near the cross roads above Piney
Grove Church.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the School Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to appropriate
a sum of money out of any funds in their possession not other-
wise appropriated, sufficient for the purchase of a site and the
erection of a school house for colored children in said county,
to be located within one-half mile of Hope Chapel in the first
election district of Anne Arundel county, and for the purchase
