lated, not to exceed the sum of twenty dollars. Should the
person convicted fail to pay such fine and the costs of the
proceeding, the justice shall commit the delinquent to the
county jail for the time prescribed by the ordinance unless
the party shall pay such tine and costs with the costs of com-
mitment and imprisonment, before the day limited in said
commitment, in which case the justice shall order the sheriff
to release such person; provided no imprisonment shall be for
a longer time than thirty days.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall- take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 68,

AN ACT to repeal Chapter seventy-four of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January ses-
sion, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two, entitled
an Act to add an additional Section to article eleven of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title Frederick
County, sub-title Justices of the Peace and Constables, to be
known as Section two hundred and eighty -nine A, creating
a Police Justice of the Peace for Election District number
two in Frederick County, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

Effective.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That chapter, seventy-f our of the acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January session in the
year eighteen hundred and ninety-two, entitled an act to add
an additional section to article eleven of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title Frederick county, sub-title jus-
