LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the first day of May, 1896.

Approved April 4, 1896.

CHAPTER 416.

AN ACT to enable Nathan J. P. Tull, collector of State and
county taxes for the first collection district, composed of
Princess Anne, Dublin, Fairmount and Mount Vernon elec-
tion districts of Somerset County, for, the years eighteen
hundred and ninety-two and eighteen hundred and ninety-
three, to enforce the payment of the taxes not heretofore
collected by him.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The Act of the General Assembly of Maryland
of eighteen hundred and ninety-four, chapter five hundred and
seventy -eight, provided a new system for collecting revenue
and taxes in Somerset county, to begin and be in operation
only as to collection of taxes for the year eighteen hundred
and ninety-four and subsequent thereto; and
WHEREAS, A certain Nathan J. P. Tull, of Somerset county,

was duly appointed and duly qualified as collector of State and
county taxes for the first collection district, composed of Prin-
cess Anne, Dublin, Fairmount and Mount Vernon election dis-
tricts in Somerset county, for the years eighteen hundred and
ninety-two and eighteen hundred and ninety-three, under laws
which had theretofore provided the manner and means of
enforcing a lien for taxes in said county, and to whose appoint-
ment, as aforesaid, the said act of eighteen hundrd and ninety-
four, chapter tive hundred and seventy-eight, by its own terms
did not apply, thereby repealing the said prior laws applicable
thereto; and

WHEREAS, The said Nathan J. P. Tull has been unable

wholly to collect the State and county taxes for the first collec-
tion district aforesaid for the years eighteen hundred and
ninety-two and eighteen hundred and ninety three by reason
of said repeal and want of any law to enforce the same;
therefore,

land, That all taxes heretofore levied by the County Commis-
