in the State of Maryland, for the encouraging building of
towns, and the laying out of town sites and streets, alleys and
avenues therein; for the erection of dwellings and other build-
ings, and for selling and leasing the same; for establishing sum-
mer resorts, and in promoting the development of the land and
property of the corporation.

SEC. 6. Be it further enacted, That the said company in the
development of its property shall have the right to construct,
operate and equip railroad lines, to be operated by steam or
electricity in any portion of the State of Maryland, to
erect, equip and operate telephone and telegraph lines within
the State of Maryland, so as to connect its landed property and
estates with any of the cities of the State; and to ac-
quire land or franchises, and to make contracts to carry out the
purpose set out in this section,
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the said corporation

shall have the power and right to act as agent for the purchase
of any lands, chattels and properties, whether real, personal or
mixed, and may sell and convey the same, or any part thereof,
upon the instalment plan or upon such other plan as the direc-
tors of the said corporation shall determine, for the purpose of
aiding the development of the said lands, and facilitating the
settlement of immigrants, and that, in the interest of this devel-
opment by immigration or otherwise, the said corporation may
construct, equip and operate steam, electric and other railways,
and shall have the right to lay tracks upon and to use the high-
way, roads and streets of the State of Maryland, as may be
granted to it by the respective County Commissioners or
municipal authorities within the State of Maryland; and the
said County Commissioners and municipal authorities are
hereby authorized in their discretion to grant to the said com-
pany such rights, upon such terms as to them shall seem proper,
and for the construction and operation of the said railroads,
the said company shall have all the rights and powers pertain-
ing to such condemnations of lands for railroad companies as
are now granted to railroad companies under Article 23, of the
Public General Laws.

SEC. 8. Be it further enacted, That the directors of the
said company shall have the power to change the corporate
name thereof, provided the holders of two -thirds of the stock
then issued shall vote in favor of such change.

SEC. 9. Se it further enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
