SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 231.
AN ACT to revive and extend the charter or certificate of
incorporation, whereby the trustees of Bethel Church were
made a body corporate.

|
WHEREAS, By an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
passed in the year 1802, authority was given to incorporate cer-
tain persons in every Christian church and congregation in this
State; and

WHEREAS, Certain persons residing in the counties of Balti-
more and Harford, in the State of Maryland, resolved to form
a body corporate for the purposes in said act mentioned, and
by virtue of the privileges conferred upon them by said act,
said persons on or about the 24th day of April, in the year 1804,
elected nine trustees, to be known as the Trustees of Bethel
Church, and determined and fixed on a plan, agreement, regu-
lations and rules for the government of said church and church
property; and

WHEREAS, Vacancies occurred from time to time in said board
of trustees which the congregation of said church neglected to
fill, and by reason of said vacancies and neglect of said congre-
gation the said board of trustees became extinct and the suc-
cession suspended; and

WHEREAS, The said corporation, before it had become sus-
pended as aforesaid, acquired the title to certain lands in Har-
ford county which were used as a graveyard, and upon which
a church was erected; and

WHEREAS, The descendants of those buried in said grave-
yard and others interested therein are desirous of reviving said
corporation, so that the said graveyard and church property
may receive proper attention and care, and be held and enjoyed
for the purpose originally designed; therefore,
