LLOYD LOWNDES, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

title are hereby made and declared able and capable in law to
take, receive, hold, possess and acquire by gift, devise, bequest,
grant or otherwise, lands, tenements, goods, chattels, estate and
property of any kind whatsoever, and the same again to grant,
devise, alien and dispose of; provided, that the clear yearly
income of the real and personal estate of said corporation shall
not exceed the sum of fifty thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That no misnomer of the said

body corporate and its successors shall defeat or annul any pur-
chase, gift, grant, devise or bequest to or from the said corpo-
ration; provided, the intent of the party or parties shall suffi-
ciently appear upon the face of the gift, will, grant or other
writing whereby any estate, interest or property was intended
to pass to or from the said corporation.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation and its

and use a common seal, with such device and inscription as
it shall see fit, and the same to break, alter and renew at
pleasure.

tracted with, plead and be impleaded, in any court, or before
any judge or justice, in any and all manner of suits, com-
plaints, pleas and demands of whatsoever nature, kind or form
they may be, and all and every matter and thing to do in aa
full and effectual manner as any other person or persons, bodiee
politic and corporate within this State, can or may.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said body corporate

powered to make, ordain and establish by-laws, regulations and
ordinances, and do everything incident and needful for the
support and due government of said corporation, and manag-
ing the funds and revenues thereof; provided, the said by-laws,
regulations and ordinances shall not be repugnant to the Con-
stitution and laws of the United States, or of the State of
Maryland, or to the Constitution, discipline, rules and regula-
tions of the Methodist Protestatit Church.

consist of fourteen persons, who shall be members of the Meth-
odist Protestant Church, in good and regular standing, who
shall be elected by the said General Conference of the Meth-
